Countdown to the Dubai Airshow begins

The Dubai Airshow will open its doors in less than ten weeks bringing with it more than 7000 square metres of exhibition space, technically-advanced aircraft, and some 50,000 visitors from around the world.

Running for five days, from 15-19 November at Airport Expo, Dubai, the biennial airshow will provide a platform for a range of aircraft, including the advanced jet trainer Falcon L-15 from China-based AVIC, and a full-scale replica of the Eurofighter.

In the exhibition halls, the EADS stand will include two impressive full-scale mock-ups – the Airbus A350 XWB cabin – which will house an audio-visual theatre system – and Eurocopter’s 16-seater civilian helicopter, the EC175.

F & E Aerospace director Alison Weller acknowledged that the past year had been a difficult period for the aviation industry, but remained optimistic that the airshow would spearhead the aerospace industry’s recovery.

"The past year has been a difficuly time for the aerospace industry worldwide, with manufacturers, suppliers and service-providers facing a bleak and uncertain future.

"However, with a more bullish outlook for the coming year, especially within the Middle East region, I am cautiously optimistic that the Dubai Airshow will signal a return to a healthy marketplace and the opportunity for exhibitors and visitors alike to take advantage of the upturn," Weller added.

Other highlights include an aerobatic display from the Italian Airforce’s Frecce Tricolori and Patrouille de France teams, as well as an update from Aerion on its developments for its supersonic business jet.

In addition, airshow sponsors Mubadala Aerospace, a business unit of Abu Dhabi’s Mubadala Development Company, will have a number of spokespeople on hand to take potential customers through its aerospace portfolio, in what is expected to be one of the largest participations at the show.
