Passengers stranded in the UAE due to flight delays caused by the ash cloud over Europe need not worry about overstaying as fines will not be slapped on them, according to a senior immigration officer.
Major General Mohammad Al Merri, Director General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs said on Sunday: "The decision is not only limited to Dubai airports. The federal decree issued by the Ministry of Interior is applicable to all airports in the country," Major General Merri told Khaleej Times.
"The decision shall remain valid until the end of this hassle, and that may stay for some days."
