Travelling with Liquids

Abu Dhabi International Airport

There are new restrictions on carriage of Liquids, Aerosols & Gels in Hand luggage for all flights departing Abu Dhabi.

Passengers are advised to check-in all Liquids, Aerosols & Gels that do not meet the new guidelines.

  • Liquids, Aerosols & Gels must be in containers of maximum 100 ml capacity
  • Containers must be placed in a 1-litre transparent re-sealable bag.
  • Re-sealable bag must be completely closed & sealed.
  • Only one re-sealable bag allowed per person.
  • Re-sealable bag must be presented seperately for security screening.

Liquids, Aerosols & Gels include:

  • Drinks, including water
  • Soups & sauces
  • Creams, balms, lotions & oils
  • Toothpaste
  • Hair & Shower gels
  • Perfumes & deodorants
  • Mascara & lip gloss
  • Shaving form & hairspray
  • Contact lens solution, etc.

Exemptions:

  • Exemptions made for medications, baby food and special dietary items.

Shop as normal at Abu Dhabi Duty Free...

Liquid items purchases will be placed in sealed tamper-evident bags provided by the shops, with the receipt clearly displayed.

Passengers transferring or transiting at other airports should check with sales staff for restrictions.

Dubai International Airport

Only limited amounts of liquids may be carried through security control in hand luggage. The following restrictions apply to all liquids, creams, gels, pastes and aerosols (including bottled drinks, cosmetics, perfumes and other cosmetics)

  • Liquids may only be carried in containers holding up to a maximum of 100 ml
  • They must be carried in a single, transparent, re-sealable plastic bag (no larger than 20 cm x 20cm) and all items must fit inside so that it closes
  • At security the bag should be removed from hand luggage and placed in a tray for X-ray screening
  • Liquids in quantities greater than 100 ml can be carried in hold luggage
  • Any liquids found at security control which do not comply with the above rules will be confiscated

Sharjah International Airport

New Security rules for liquids in hand baggage

  • All liquids, sprays, gels or pastes with a maximum capacity of 100ml, must be packed in a transparent, re-sealable 20 x 20 cm plastic bag.
  • Only one plastic bag is permitted per passenger
  • The bag must be presented at the x-ray screening point
  • Medicines and special food (e.g. baby food) that are required on board may be carried separately.
    The passenger may have to present a proof of authenticity for the medicine when requested.
